Tak w ramach wyciągania trupów z szafy.Szukałem piosenki Mousetrap studyjnej a znalazłem zespół i pare piosenek...znaczy zespół już był,ja znalazłem tylko inne ich piosenki,że tak powiem ich odkryłem dla Siebie.Teraz parę słów od cioci Wikipedii,która dzisiaj wymaga od was znajomości języka angielskiego w stopniu mniej więcej podstawowym

Some Velvet Sidewalk was formed in Eugene, Oregon in 1987 by Al Larsen (vocals/guitar) and Robert Christie (drums). Their first release was From Playground 'Til Now, and was independently released on cassette in 1988. Somewhere around this time , Jenny Olay joined on second guitar and went on the band's first American jaunt with The Go Team and Mecca Normal. In 1990, Al Larsen along with Tobi Vail (drums) and Louise Olsen (bass) recorded the album, Shipwreck. (The release of this album was heavily delayed, but it was eventually released in 1995.) Just before the 1990 release of their first full album, Appetite For Extinction, Robert Christie left the band and was replaced by Don Blair and bass player Martin Bernier, whom Al Larsen had found in a free musician's wanted ad.

A short tour of small Pacific NW towns quickly followed with D.C. band Scream, of which Dave Grohl was a member and it was Some Velvet Sidewalk that accompanied Scream when Kurt Cobain had first laid eyes on Dave at a small party at Slim Moon's home.[citation needed]

This new line-up soon recorded with Calvin Johnson in Yo Yo Studios along with Pat Maley what would become known as the "Pumpkin Patch" single.

They went back to the studio in 1991 with producer and musician Steve Fisk to record Avalanche, which released in 1992. They spent 1992 and 1993 touring and released a short EP called I Scream. Following suit, the next album, Whirlpool, showed up in 1994. Ryan Baldoz of Olympia joined on second guitar around this time.

SVS soon added keyboardist Paul Schuster to the lineup to record the 1997 album, Generate!. The final true SVS release, the EP The Lowdown, was released in late 1997.

The band broke up following an American tour, and the members went their separate ways. In 1999, Al compiled and released a posthumous SVS album called Original Love Rock Masters. This album is a compilation that contains live songs, garage demos, and various side projects.

Al Larsen continued his musical career with bands such as The Polar Bears, The Evil Tambourines and Melting Igloo. In 2005, he released a solo album titled The Hardline According to Danny & the Dinosaur on his own label, Property is Theft. Al is now a media studies professor at the university of Buffalo. Martin Bernier joined Seattle's The Heroic Trio, which featured Australian ex-pat and future Welcome bassist Jo Klaxton and drummer Lenni Rennals. They released one full-length album and one 3 song e.p. on La Push Records. Following Bernier's exit from that band he joined Olympia's Bunnyfoot Charm. Don Blair went onto play drums in Totfinder along with ex-Sleep Capsule member Russ Klatt. He now plays in the experimental Waves.

The original drummer and founding member, Robert Christie, was killed in January 2001 along with his wife, Denise and two sons, Ted and John.

Album,który pozwoliłem Sobie zaznaczyć kolorem żółtym to jedyny chyba dostępny do zassania z sieci,bo ich strona jest mocno archaiczna i mało co tam działa.Mimo to na www.somevelvetsidewalk.com pare piosenek działa,a polecam zwłaszcza z wymienionego albumu piosenke Dumb(nie to inna).O dziwo z tej samej płyty pochodzi krótsza i wolniejsza wersja mousetrap,którą znamy z filmu Hype.

Ich muzyka to bardzo chaotyczny wokal,niechlujny,bardzo schizowy i psychodeliczny.Gitary naszpikowane wysokimi tonami,chociaż wspomniane Dumb o tym nie do końca nas przekonuje.Trochę to Grunge,ale widać,że sporo stylistyką zbliżyli się min. do Sex pistols choć miejscami wokal brzmi jak przerażony Cobain.

Pare ich piosenek to zagrane(zakładam celowość) na odpierdol się punkowe ballady czasem zachaczające w stylistyce o Bitelsów.Niemniej jednak dla mnie kapela po 1 płycie jest warta uwagi,grała ledwo 10 lat,nie zdązyli więc skończyć się na kilem ol...dla mnie warto zapoznać się z nimi

Some Velvet Sidewalk is the kid-rock, trash aesthetic the second coming of sincerity in music? The do-it-yourself approach to guitar pricing? Being creative with leftovers is the lost-and-found art in a land where Form is King. What do we call it? The Pacific Northwest Rebellion? The International Pop Underground? Gravity's Grassroots Groundswell? Whatever. Some Velvet Sidewalk come from the mecca of the movement. The movement toward simplicity, unpretention and stuff liek that. But it's not folk art. It's not folk music. There's nothing naive abouit it. It's the asymptote of cynicism. The height of bitterness, with a beat. Getting damn close to the point of "why bother?"

But Some Velvet Sidewalk bother alot. They even publish a Some Velvet Sidewalk update to keep this pathetic world informed of their activities; what new records they've purchased, Al's and Robert's personal top ten lists, S.V.S. in the studio, and other crap. Some Velvet Sidewalk is proof that restless youth is running out of places to turn. Are you looking for un-blackbooted hardcore punk? Look for Al. He describes Some Velvet Sidewalk as "the Plasmatics of Nice". "Hardcore with a Heart of Gold". Al says simply: "Some Velvet Sidewalk are pink rock." Not that they are a punk rock BAND. They are PUNK ROCK. FUCKING HARDCORE!!! You may not know precisely what he means by the term "punk rock" unless you are an actual punk. Bonafide. Like Al. Do you speak for his generation? Are you one of the disenchanted? Do you still care about the, er, world? Al, the mild-mannered rebel, says: "If punk rock is about doing it yourself simply and economically and if punk is about life and emotions and such, rather than rhetoric and Conan the Barbarian stuff, and if ir's about finding your own way and making your own rules, then we're it." He never mentions getting fucked up, or putting up with fucked up people, when he's referring to punk. I've even known him to ponder how cassettes might effect world peace. (Don't we all?)

Some Velvet Sidewalk is basically the sound of a guitar player and drummer letting it rip. Their cassette, From Playground 'til Now, comes complete with Al's description of why it sounds the way it does. "It's not because I'm dumb. I would prefer you to think it's because rooms, recording tape and tape machines are not invisible." This is paradoxical, like benign rage. This is the backbone of the trash aesthetic. It wears a moth-eaten sweater. It is recognizable but unidentifiable. It is lonely, having spent a life-time making the hasty exit from the crowd after the in-crowd. Some Velvet Sidewalk turns on everything including itself. Existential pumpkin carving on New Year's Eve. Rockin' the house down with their heavy-monster bash-a-minute sound. Al indeed has a contempt for limitations and rules. He does seem to limit himself to doing actual "songs", though, while others like Rich Jensen have left that tired old convention in the dust. Defiance comes through loud and clear on "Playground". One golden moment on the tape is "Alright", an impromptu super-jam. One word shy of being a trash instrumental: ("Alright! ! ! ...Alright!!!. . .Alright! ! ! . . .") This is where the rock song hits a brick wall of absurdity. It's cynical, like a vaccination. Another solid gold hit is the tiresome, deceptively long, poorly-edited "Worried Man's backdrop Rock". Bug music. Undanceable. Unhummable. Unwhistlable. Unlikeable. Sincere and loveable. Some Velvet Sidewalk press the issue. The product is for sale. It is a "consumer item", fer crying out loud! The perfect stocking stuffer. Some Velvet Sidewalk have their first single coming out on "K" this fall, produced by Calvin "Theory of Subtraction" Johnson. Al shares Calvin's jumbo-sized Rage for Chaos (as pertains to Form, not Sentiment).

It's been twelve or so years since our foreftahers bergan the self-examination of rock. The road to ruin has been a long one but, sonny boy, this is it. This is the ultimate chaos. The final dismantling of rock-n-roll. And according to Some Velvet Sidewalk it's heart is still golden. Purpose seems to be all that is left. Good intentions prevail while copycats get faster and faster and faster. Content can't be far behind. Fucking hardcore, at last. Raging full-on, pal.

Kiedyś, bardzo już dawno, próbowałam tego przesłuchać (już nie pamiętam, gdzie dorwałam płytę), ale był dla mnie za bardzo "chaotyczny wokal,niechlujny,bardzo schizowy i psychodeliczny" Poszukiwanie takich zakurzonych kapel może wiele dobrego dać, dużo zespołów przez to poznałam, tylko niestety o wielu ostatnio z braku czasu zapomniałam. trzeba się wziąć znów do roboty

Kurcze też mam zajawke na odkurzanie takich starych zapomnianych kapel. Udało mi się zassać całą płyte Bundle of Hiss. Świetny zespół. Łączyli metal, psychodele i rocka polecam kawałek "Swamp" naprawde, wokal wznosi się tam na wyżyny a ten riff gitarowy gniecie... da sie go zassać soulseekiem. 4 kawałki 64 Spiders udało mi się ściągnąć (zepół o którym wspominał Kim w Hype). Tylko jakość marna bo są zgrywane magnetofonem z winyla, oprócz tego troche Cat Butt, Blood Circus, U-man... Strasznie fajnie sie tego słucha, taki totalny punkowy oldschool :)
A Some Velvet Sidewalk nawet nie starałem się szukać. Po prostu nie mogłem znieść tego jak ten koleś potraktował perkusje w "Hype!" :)
