Wysłany: 2011-02-15, 21:43 OUR GOAL FOR 2011 - LET'S MAKE A RECORD
To zasługuje na odzielny temat.
Over the past few months, we've been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together - exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden. It feels great. We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon. Thank you for all of the support!

seatut73 (who works for the well respected Easy Street Records in Seattle which hosted a Pearl Jam Backspacer release party in 2009) posted the following on the PearlJam.com forums regarding new Soundgarden material:
"got to hear 2 new songs a few weeks ago…one was very VERY rocking…the other had Ben singing on it, sounded a lot like a Mark Lanegan tune (which is good)…will be interesting to see what else they come up with…"
Because of seatut73′s affiliation with Easy Street Records I tend to believe him.

Matt Cameron said on Pearl Jam Radio that Soundgarden have been writing new songs since December and that they will start recording early next month. He said the process has been great so far. He also said the following about Soundgarden:
-Writing songs for both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, hinted that Soundgarden are working around Pearl Jam’s schedule. Seemed to hint that he’ll be able to juggle playing live with both bands later this year.
-Gave a vague answer to a question regarding Soundgarden/Temple of the Dog happening at Pearl Jam’s 20th Anniversary Bash. He didn’t rule it out. There were tons of jokes and hints about it happening.
-Said Superunknown was when he was peaking at a drummer
"Said Superunknown was when he was peaking at a drummer - ciekawe :p
Kim Thayil hinted that Adam Kasper might produce Soundgarden’s new album in a new interview with Greg Prato of RollingStone.com.
Kim talked about how they worked a lot with Adam last year and in the late 90′s, and that they want that relationship to continue.

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell did an interview with SPIN.com yesterday where he announced that Soundgarden will start recording their new album next week with Adam Kasper as producer, here is part of the article:
The quartet — Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron, and bassist Ben Shepherd — plan to spend as long as necessary to “make an album that we all really love,” says Cornell. “We don’t have a schedule,” he adds. “It’s not like we are going to go into the studio and come out when we’re finished with an album.”
“We’re putting the music first,” Cornell explains. “The process of writing, recording, and being creative together is the most important thing, not meeting a deadline.”
Cornell explains that the band’s sessions will be interrupted by his solo acoustic tour this spring — and some live dates from Soundgarden. “We plan on playing shows for sure — that’s never been in question,” he says. “Then when we have some time again we’ll get back into the studio.”

Billboard.com has a new interview up with Soundgarden/Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron about Soundgarden’s new album, here’s are a few excerpts from the interview:
Drummer Matt Cameron tells Billboard.com that “there’s a little bit of evolution going on with some of this new music, but we’re not straying too far from the formula. It has all our signature elements — and more. I think people are going to really love it.”
The writing session generated 12-14 songs that Cameron says “are kind of ready to go,” but he also expects that “once we get into a studio environment, we’ll come up with new ideas and rearrange what we have.” The existing songs, he says, are “about 90 percent new,” but some draw on ideas that date as far back as 1996′s “Down on the Upside,” as well as some riffs he wrote around 2008. “We’ve tried to update the super-old stuff,” he says. “It doesn’t sound too old and dusty and crusty to my ears — but maybe to someone else it will. I think guitar-based music is not really as popular as it has been in the past, so it might sound kind of out of date or out of tune with what’s going on right now. Or it might be a breath of fresh air to have an unabashedly loud guitar band out there.”

Czyli uff, uspokoili Chrisa
Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil did an interview with KISW and said the following about Soundgarden’s new album:
“We have a number of songs that are in various stages of completion. We have well, probably a handful of them that are completed. Then we have others that we can move the arrangement around or stuff that have lyrics that could be added and things like that. So we’ve got a lot of material out there that’s at various stages of completion. We have some that just simply need an intro.”
Kim also said he’ll most likely attend Chris Cornell’s Seattle solo show to support him.

Soundgarden have said that their new album will be quite different from their early material.
The band have previously said in the past that their first album for 15 years will feature 'updated old material', but guitarist Kim Thayil has seemingly ruled this out, saying the band's new LP will sound quite different.
Speaking to Kerrang!, Thayil said:"We want to make sure the material excites us. The last thing we want to make is another grunge or metal record."
He added that the Seattle band want to record an album with "material that excites us."
Thayil said that there was no target release date for the album yet, only adding that the band want to record and release the album "as soon as possible", but that singer Chris Cornell's solo tour and drummer Matt Cameron's commitments with Pearl Jam have to come first.
He said: "Everything is contingent on the primary careers of the band. Everyone wants the album to come out as soon as possible, but at the moment, there's no reason to rush anything."
Thayil also said the band would be likely to tour the new album when it is released.
